VACAT participates Austin Vietnamese Community Health Fair each year.  By partnering with local organizations, we aspire to raise health awareness and promote access to healthcare in our community.   Health Fair is an event where local organizations have an opportunity to distribute health information to the public at booths and/or to provide health screenings.   Diabetes screenings and flu vaccinations are some of the services planned for the health fair and performed by certified health professionals.  Volunteers from VACAT work at stations to assist the health care professionals, including doctors, dentists, and optometrists, often times, facilitating communication (translating) 

between the patient and provider. 

Health fair increases awareness by educating families, promoting positive health behaviors, and encouraging early detection and treatment of disease. The public can learn about healthcare resources and apply for assistance programs
