We Are VACAT.
The Vietnamese American Community of Austin Texas (VACAT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1997, serving as Austin's premier Vietnamese cultural institution. For 28 years, VACAT has strengthened the greater Austin community through advocacy, social services, and programming that bridges Vietnamese heritage with Austin's diverse landscape, serving over 10,000 community members annually.
Our Work & Impact
VACAT operates across four strategic areas - Cultural Events including Austin's largest Tet Festival and traditional celebrations, Community Services featuring monthly seniors programming and wellness initiatives, Educational Programs offering digital literacy training and youth scholarships, and Advocacy & Outreach including our historic legislative victory establishing Vietnamese American Day as an official Texas holiday.
Through partnerships with the City of Austin, local businesses, and community organizations, VACAT has demonstrated measurable impact across Austin's diverse neighborhoods. We preserve Vietnamese cultural traditions while providing essential services, advocate for community rights while building bridges across cultures, and create economic and social value that strengthens Austin's entire cultural ecosystem for residents of all backgrounds.
