The Vietnamese American Community of Austin, TX (VACAT) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in August, 1997.  VACAT is a 100% volunteer-based organization that serves a large Vietnamese American community in the Austin metropolitan area.

Vision:

To have an organization cultivating the spirit of giving, sharing, and enriching the lives of others through volunteering.

Mission:

• Provide community services to help families quickly acclimate and contribute to mainstream society.
• Preserve and create awareness of the Vietnamese Culture.
• Raise awareness of Human Rights issues.
• Be a hub of information for the community.  
• Be a strong unified voice to represent the Vietnamese community against social injustice or unfairness.

 Cultural Preservation

• Vietnamese Lunar New Year - Tet celebration

 Education

• Computer, ESL, citizenship training classes
• Town hall meeting with the Immigration Task Force to educate Vietnamese Americans on issues related to immigration laws

Charitable Events

• Inter-Community Charity Ball to raise funds for non-profit organizations

• Katrina and Rita Hurricane, Tsunami Fundraising and Walk-a-Thon to raise funds for victims of natural disasters

Human Rights

• American government recognizes the Vietnamese Republic flag in stead of the Communist flag

• Support people who peacefully advocate Human Rights in Vietnam 

Crime Prevention

• Town hall meeting with the Travis County Sheriff Office and the Austin Police Department on Asian crime awareness
